PHOTOS: Stunning sunsets in Costa Rica

On my last second-last evening in Costa Rica I peeked outside at the end of the day and spotted this gorgeous sunset.

Not too shabby right? ↓

These pinky rays don’t occur every evening in the Caribbean, just every once in a while, so whenever we do catch a sight like this we fortunately still think it’s quite breathtaking. Facing east, we don’t see the sun plunge in the sea either. Nevertheless I could recall quite some decent red and rose-hued evenings. So I figured the time was there to do a little archive-digging!

So to my dear fellow suckers for sunsets.. here’s a magical throwback of the sunsets in Costa Rica!

On the west side of the lush town of Monteverde you can enjoy a rather magnificent sunset. ↑ With a bit of luck, you might even see as far as the Pacific ocean. I was mainly focused on these trees on the mountain ridge.

You can see that edge (and my brother-in-law :)) in this picture too ↓

Ah what the heck, just one more; when blue hour was about to begin ↓

Near the train tracks in Puerto Limón ↓

The sunset from the jungle retreat of Mirador Prendas, near Sarapiqui ↓

Not pictured: the many toucans and aracari’s flying around the building right before sunset.

As said we’re facing east in the Caribe in Costa Rica, but Tortuguero does have a decent spot where one is able to overlook the west. It’s located next to where the boats come ashore from the canal. Once it’s 5:30pm, haste towards the water and enjoy the orange, pink and purple skies! ↓

Every time we go to Dominical we just HAVE to make a stopover at Cafe Mono Congo. Whether it is for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a cup of coffee, the atmosphere in here is always right. And so are the sunsets. ↓

When I visited Envision Festival for an article I was pleasantly surprised to see that they’d bought this picture and used it for their own website!

Another gorgeous sunset in the Caribe. Life’s a beach on the Caribbean side in Puerto Viejo ↓

Some pinky strokes close to the iconic long palm tree at Punta Uva beach in Puerto Viejo! ↓

Another sunset in Dominical at Mono Congo

This one is taken at Poor Man’s Paradise in Corcovado

Cool snap right? Maybe a little too early in the day to call this a sunset shot, but I thought this photo of Jori, his brother and our dog Chapo in Manzanillo was quite fun and aligned.

Next one again is from the west side of Costa Rica.

The beach of Uvita, depending on the tide, is shaped like a whale tail. And that’s peculiar since it’s also the best spot in Costa Rica to spot the giant humpback whales. ↓

And one more from hippie spirit festival Envision ↓ The main picture of this article is also shot at Envision. All the visitors of the festival flock to the beach at sunset and ‘howl’ to the sun when it starts to drown in the sea. Quite an experience…

That’s all folks!
