If there’s one thing that the people on the eastern side of Costa Rica are good at, then it must be organizing parades. It’s incredible how much creativity, rhythm and swag is displayed on events such as Afro-Caribbean Day, Carnival, Independence Day or the lantern parade. As an outsider it was wonderful to experience these festivities.
Since I sincerely love making portraits, these days were the best for me. People were always very willing to be photographed for a small second during the events and this let to thousands of colourful pictures. With a slight feeling of nostalgia, I wanted to do something with those one more time. Therefore a small collection of the portraits and people that meant the most to me.
I basically still feel the beats of the drums and the sounds of the xylophones again while browsing through these pictures. I hope they will bring a bit of Caribbean joy to your day too!
The long days of January are finally over and clearly everyone was suffering from the blue month blues, as my website álmost hit the 25.000 viewers (24.351 to be exact).
