In the far north of Costa Rica – on the Caribbean shore – awaits an out of the ordinary, isolated village: Tortuguero. It takes some patience (and a long boat ride or a short flight from either Limón of San José) to get to the town, but once there a lot of surprises are to be found. The amount of wildlife in the area is in contradiction to its inhabitants tremendous. Though tourism is the number one source of income, life remains pretty relaxed and slow in here. For an impression of what you can encounter in Tortuguero, here a selection of pictures of all of my trips to the place.
